 Steve Vautour - (NB) Singles

Joanne Luke & Jeff Smith  (NB) Mixed Doubles

Kevin Hebert/Joanne Luke/Jeff Smith (NB) Mixed Triples

Dave Cameron (NS) & Stan Belbin (NB) Mens Doubles

Tammy Perry (PEI) & Rodney Conner (NB) Blind Draw

The Ed Shand Memorial (formerly the Port City Open) was relocated to Petiticodiac after the registration had struggled in Saint John.  This doesn't seem to be an issue anymore, as New Brunswick had a record turnout for the shoot.  Registration was well covered in all events to accomidate the $3200.00 Prize Payout!  Looks like the Petiticodiac Legion has been able to turn the New Brunswick Ranking Shoot sceene completely around... Since the tournament has done so well, the total payout next year should be even better!  Many thanks goes out to all the staff and organizers of the two Nationaly Ranked Events that they have been able to provide us with!!!!!  And Congratulations to all the Champions of their respective events!

Player Spotlight/Bio  - Matthew Dow (Moncton NB)

I was born in Moncton NewBrunswick before I moved to Lakeville. My father was playing darts while I was still a young ladd. The joy of watching him inspired me to pick up the game in 2003 at age 12. First year I played I joined a youth dart program set up in Sunny Brea area. My brother and I would play every sunday at 10 am. Learning from my dad I had a natural skill on my dart. My brother and I now don't play in any leagues because the fall of the youth program in sunny brea. Since then my brother gave up darts, and I moved on to try out for districts to qualify for provincal for youth. The first year I tried, I never completed my goal beating myself up because I didn't win. It put me down and I never wanted to play again. My old man explained to me that its just my first year to get my ass out there and try agian in the following year. Doing so I placed 2nd in provincals losing to P.J. Walsh of Sussex. By placing 2nd I moved on to the Nationals in Thunder Bay ONT. In ThunderBay I did not qualify for a place but that was fine. I travelled to far to get mad at myself and ruin a weekend. The year after I played in provincals again placing second all the way through the round robin coming down to the last round where I played Keith best of 5, I was up 2-0 and he was upset and didn't play well...then I started to miss my doubles but pounded score. I left my self 32 the last 3 games and from 32 went 16 then 8 I finaly lost all 3 game horribly to Keith because I couldnt hit double 2 and I was being stubborn and wouldnt give up on the double 2. I should have swiched to a different double so I ended up not making Nationals in 2006. Beating myself up again I knew I should have been going to Nationals and I blew it. (NO HARD FEELINGS KEITH YOUR A GREAT SHOT & BEST OF LUCK IN THE FUTURE) Trying out in the 2007 Provincals I played strong through out the day I took 1st place in provincals beating Cody McLain (My Doubles Partner In Nationals) and joint Third Chris. I was happy to make it for more reasons then one. I missed out the year before is one. I completed my goals and I also got to see Kristy again (I met her in Thunderbay). I drove 14 more hours to Dorval, Quebec to play in the 2007 Nationals. I have never shot so well in my life and to see the guys who shoot up there are unbeleivable ALL ARE GREAT SHOOTERS ALL THE BEST TO ALL. Unfortanitly I never placed in any event but coming one point short of knockouts in every event. I would like to thank Cody McLain for the great time I had hanging out in Quebec and the help in the doubles couldnt have done it with out you.

Matt Dow

(Great write up Matt...  Thanks & Good luck..now we need to see some more goals!)  I'm sure all the youth players (and Adults) are taking notice on this one!
